Official Rules
1. To enter BRAvo, visit www.bravoartproject.com. If you do not have access to a computer, you may also call BRAvo founder Joy Frank-Collins at (740) 373-8099 to enter by mail.
2. All entries MUST be constructed with an upper-torso undergarment as its base (bra, camisole, corset, sports bra, bustier, etc.). The undergarment must be included as a key component of the final entry.
3. All entries submitted to BRAvo will be on display to the public at the Riverside Artists Gallery (188 Front St., Marietta, OH 45750 ) beginning October 8, 2010 through approximately the second Friday in November 2010.
a. When embellishing your bra-artwork, please consider that the bra will be on display.
i. Extremely heavy pieces may not be able to hang
ii. Tables will be available for pieces designed to lie flat or are too heavy to hang
iii. No power sources will be available for individual pieces of art – but don’t let that discourage you from using batteries!!
b. We want this event to be fun, cheeky and most of all, to serve as a method of raising awareness for this disease and banishing taboos about breasts and breast cancer. We encourage participants to go out on a limb, make cute jokes, use slang – but please keep in mind that this event is open to the community. Please keep your pieces in good taste. A good rule of thumb to follow – if you wouldn’t want your child, boss or mother to know you made it – DON’T.
c. BRAvo organizers reserve the right to not display any entries deemed inappropriate for the show.
d. Professional artists wishing to participate in the show should contact Riverside Artists Gallery (phone (740) 376-0797) or Joy Frank-Collins (phone (740) 373-8099) for additional information related to the show
4. All $25 registration fees are considered donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure via The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure and will not be refunded.
a. Checks should be made out to “The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” and submitted to Joy or Ethan Frank-Collins, Riverside Artists Gallery or a person designated as an agent of the BRAvo Art Project. Fees must be accompanied by an entry form.
b. Registration fees are tax deductible
5. All entries become property of BRAvo.
a. After the initial show in Marietta, BRAvo reserves the right to move the show in its entirety to additional galleries
b. Participants may choose to reclaim their pieces following the conclusion of all BRAvo shows for 2010-2011.
c. Participants may also choose to allow BRAvo to auction their piece during the Marietta event (and subsequent events). 100% of the proceeds of the auction will be directed to Susan G. Komen for the Cure via The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
6. All entries to the BRAvo Art Project will be entered into contests held the night of the showing (October 8, 2010)
a. Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by BRAvo as well as attendees to the BRAvo Art Show
b. Entries will not be judged on the quality of the bra used – it serves as a canvas. Judging will be based on components including creativity, materials used, best final product, etc.
c. Winners will receive awards to be determined by BRAvo staff. Winners will be announced at the show October 8, 2010 and will be publicized in media. Winners will be informed via telephone or email if not present at the event.
7. Participants in BRAvo consent to have their names, likenesses, images, and stories used pre-, during- and post-event in broadcast and print media for the purposes of promotion. BRAvo will gladly work with any privacy concerns on the part of its participants.
