BRAvo was the spotlight topic last night on WOUB-TV's NewsWatch program (Local Public TV Channel 09).  Take a look at the interview (complete with some bras) here.

Special thanks to Fred Kight for seeting things up and Evan Millward, Kristi Ludlow, Mike Linden and all of the crew for having me on and running a top-notch broadcast.  Keep an eye on your local news stations, you'll see these guys in a few years.

Oh What A Night!
Words will never express the feelings I had last night as I stood in the front of Riversaide Artists Gallery for just a moment and surveyed the crowd amassed there for the BRAvo Opening.  People came out in force, in the rain, to support this event. People asked, nay demanded, that we hold the silent auction open until the show's run is complete on October 20, 2009 so that they could be sure to continue bidding on their favorite piece. Somehow the words Thank You feel woefully lacking, but seem to be the only ones that suffice.

As a writer and former journalist, I am always interested to see how members of the media dissect stories I present as a PR professional and then reconstruct them in writing.  There are times when I scream at the paper, pound my head on the desk, shake my computer screen and yell "I give up!"  This was not one of those times.

Marietta Times Reporter Kate York did a front page story about breast cancer awareness today - using the BRAvo art project as the common thread in a series of stories about triumph, loss and survival.  And she did a fantastic job putting the focus of what we're trying to accomplish with BRAvo squarely where it belongs - on the women and families who are so impacted by breast cancer.

Take a few moments and read the story...

The bras have been rolling in, and so have the calls asking if it's too late to enter. And the answer is NO! Due to such demand and my total confidence that we can set the BRAvo show in four days, the DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 5.

Through that date you may continue to drop your pieces off at the RIverside Artists Gallery - or for door-to-door service call (740) 373-8099 and I (Joy) will arrange to pick up your entry.

Forget about Swine Flu, Marietta is infected with BRA FEVER! We've started collecting entries for the BRAvo Art Project at Riverside Artists Gallery today, and I think I can safely say the gallery now has more bras than a Victoria's Secret!

If you're still curious about BRAvo - stop in the gallery this weekend to see some examples of entries. And don't forget, the deadline is extended until October 5, so you still have time to let your creativity (and hope) shine!

Due to an overwhelming number of requests we have decided to extend the deadline for entries to the BRAvo Art Project through October 5, 2009.

So, no more excuses!!

Hey y'all - did you catch our segment on WTAP-TV 15 today? If not, never fear, check it out here!

Special thanks to Beth Lanning for staying late after a long night's work to tape the segment - and for her enthusiasm!  She's a mad artist and has a very cool idea for a bra.

We've also got a HOT BUTTON. It links back here, but play around anyway. I always wanted one ; )

Special Thanks to Nate and everyone at RPM Print Shop this morning for taking care of my copy needs.  Be on the lookout for BRAvo flyers around town and at Riverside Artists Gallery.

Also did a Q&A type thing with the Marietta Times this afternoon. I think writer/copy editor Erin O'Neill (with whom I went to High School, as we discussed this afternoon) said it was slated to run in Monday's edition - I'll post a link or a PDF of the article soon.

I got files for the BRAvo show promo posters today.  No sneak previews since we're still in our full bra-making promo phase, but they are fantastic.  I'm so excited!  Cheryl and Andrea at TGG Brand Marketing never let me down and this was no exception.

This is our second time teaming up with TGG for The Cure - they created the fantastic graphics for our official Breast Cancer 3-Day T-shirts (pictured right - we have some shirts still available for purchase for $15) as well.

Booberfly Takes Flight!!!

I (Joy) finished my entry for BRAvo - yep, even those of us running the show get bitten by the design bug - no pun intended.  Entitled "Booberfly" this bra makes up the body of a beautiful black and pink butterfly (complete with a proboscis - as my son informed me that it wouldn't look real without one). While photographed lying on its back, this piece will be displayed as if in flight.

First BRAvo Entry Received!!!

Phyllis Cook of Marietta, Ohio, submitted her bra, "Kisses for a Cure," today - earning her the distinction of being the first participant to complete the 2009 BRAvo Art Project.

To create her piece, Cook hot-glued Hershey's Kisses from the company's Turn Pink campaign, which raises awareness for breast cancer across the country, to a red base bra purchased at the local Gabriel Brother's Store.  The result is fantastic, fabulous and fun.

The breast - oops -  best thing about this bra is that by using the Hershey's product, Cook doubled the reach of her efforts: The $25 fee to participate in BRAvo goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust through the Breast Cancer 3-Day and Hershey's donates funds to the Young Survival Coalition, a non-profit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to addressing the concerns and issues unique to young women and breast cancer, for every bag of pink kisses sold.

Way to go Phyllis!
