Entries for the second Annual BRAvo Art Project will be accepted beginning May 1, 2010 through Spet. 24, 2010. All entries will be displayed in an art show opening from 6-9 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 in the Riverside Artists Gallery in historic Marietta, Ohio. The event proves to be a night of laughter, tears, celebration of survival and looking ahead to a world without breast cancer.
BRAvo Art Show 2009 Memories
From 6-9 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009, Riverside Artists Gallery looked a little like a Victoria's Secret. Only, their purpose was to banish the secrets - about breast cancer, that is.
Inside this beautiful building located on Front Street in historic Marietta, Ohio, were 66 bras, all entries in the 2009 BRAvo art project show, hanging on walls and even from the building's rafters.
Joining us for this amazing event were hundreds of residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley, all out to enjoy a fall evening in Marietta, all there to support the idea that breast cancer must be stopped.
Visitors to the show enjoyed music by the Better Halves, food by Cakes by Phyllis and Del Mar's Baja Mexican and the friendly competition that comes with a silent auction in which the proceeds all go to a good cause. We are a small geographic area, with a mighty heart, and we showed that art can bring us together to make a difference.
We laughed, we cried, we cheered and we remembered. And we will continue to do so until we find a cure. It is our hope that the approximately $3,500 raised by the 2009 Marietta BRAvo art project will help put us, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, on the path to finding one.
