BRAvo - An art project celebrating survival and hope

About Us

In March 2008, we (Ethan and Joy Frank-Collins) decided to take on the challenge of a lifetime - walk 60-miles in three days to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer as participants in The Breast Cancer 3-Day.  This event changed our lives forever - for the better.

It all started when a chance email from the band Cross Canadian Ragweed changed everything.  The group announced that their friends and wives would be participating in The 2008 Breast Cancer 3-Day, an event that benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The National Philanthropic Trust. That got the wheels turning. I was aware of the event from multiple women's magazines I'd read while churning out miles on a treadmill every day.  And I always wondered if I was tough enough to do something that bold.  It took me about three minutes to convince Ethan that this was something I should do - and within 10 minutes, we were both proud participants in the event's San Diego leg.

Since the day we signed up, we've worked to raise awareness and funds to help combat this devastating disease.  We proudly walked in 2009, with memories of the many breast cancer survivors, familes and supporters we met through BRAvo ringing in our heads with every step.  This year, we will do a 3-peat. And while while the name of the event has changed to The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, its goal remains the same. to end breast cancer forever! Last year, we donated every cent of the $3,600 raised through the BRAvo Art Project toward our 3-Day Fundraising Goal, and this year, we hope to go even bigger! The money raised goes directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure - an organization dedicated to saving lives across the country, and right here at home.
